Loan Report | Cardiff City Academy: 01/10/2019
We take a look at how all of our young Bluebirds got on in action for their respective sides in this week’s loan report…
CYMRU PREMIER LEAGUE
George Ratcliffe and Sion Spence – Barry Town United
Goalkeeper George Ratcliffe and midfielder Sion Spence both featured for Barry Town United on Saturday, recording an enormous 1-0 win over current Cymru Premier holders, The New Saints, to remain top of the table.
Recording his third clean sheet of the season, Ratcliffe made a number of fine saves to deny the Saints, helping Gavin Chesterfield’s team to take all three points.
Wales U19 international Spence also impressed for Barry, featuring for 71 minutes before being replaced by Keyon Reffell.
Dan Griffiths, Keenan Patten and Ryan Reynolds – Penybont FC
Forward Daniel Griffiths played the full ninety minutes for Penybont FC on Saturday, facing Connah’s Quay Nomads at the Deeside Stadium.
Having netted twice for the Bont, Griffiths was unable to add to his total as Penybont fell to a 3-1 defeat away from home.
Having featured for Wales U18’s in the previous international break, fellow loanee Keenan Patten has returned to action in recent weeks. The midfielder played for seventy minutes of the Cymru Premier fixture, before being substituted.
THE NATIONAL LEAGUE
Mark Harris – Wrexham
Wales U21 international Mark Harris featured in the starting XI for Wrexham’s fixture against Ebbsfleet United on Saturday. Following the departure of manager Bryan Hughes, former Cardiff City midfielder Brian Flynn took temporary charge of the Dragons.
Wrexham secured a 1-0 victory over the Fleet at the Racecourse, though Harris, making his eleventh appearance of the season, was substituted at half-time.
THE NATIONAL LEAGUE NORTH
Jack Bodenham and Warren Burwood – Hereford FC
It was another enjoyable outing for Jack Bodenham and former City boss Russell Slade at Edgar Street this past weekend.
The defender, known within our Academy setup as a ball playing left footed central defender, has been playing at left-back for the National League North side for the past three matches - with the Bulls winning all three.
Bodenham played the full 90 minutes on Saturday afternoon as Hereford defeated Kettering Town, 1-0. Jack helped Brandon Hall and the Bulls keep a clean sheet. The only goal of the match was netted by attacking midfielder Jordan Nicholson after 67 minutes.
Goalkeeper Warren Burwood, on loan with Hereford for the month as back up to Hall, wasn’t named in the matchday squad for this victory.
SOUTHERN PREMIER SOUTH
Daniel Martin and Connor Davies – Weston Super-Mare
Connor Davies was an unused substitute for Weston Super Mare in their 2-1 defeat to Wimborne Town at the Cutbury Stadium on Saturday, October 28th.
The Seagulls fell to an injury time defeat against Wimborne, having themselves equalised twelve minutes from time. Fellow Bluebird loanee, Daniel Martin did not feature in the matchday squad.
