We review how all of our loanees fared for their respective sides in this week’s Loan Report…
Luthra helps Slough to next round of FA Cup
Rohan Luthra and Slough Town emerged victorious in their replay for the Third Round Qualifying of the FA Cup, defeating 10-man Salisbury 3-0.
Rohan played a critical part in earning a replay for The Rebels by making several key saves in the first tie. Goals from Temi Eweka and brace from Johnny Goddard ensured Slough progressed to the next round, and will now faceoff against Ebbsfleet United.
Rohan and Slough’s busy week continued with a National League South fixture against Weymouth at Arbour Park. Despite being unable to capitalise on the chances they created, The Rebels were held to a goalless draw, extending their unbeaten record across all competitions to seven matches and marking another clean sheet for Rohan.
Bluebirds in Belgium
Isaak Davies and Sheyi Ojo were both introduced from the bench during KV Kortrijk’s 1-0 defeat to K.V.C. Westerlo in the Belgian Pro League.
Erdon Daci’s 35th minute strike was enough to earn all three points for the home side, as Kortrijk were unable to find an equaliser, coming close in the 89th minute only for Abdelkahar Kadri’s effort to be ruled out for offside.
Zulte Waregem got back to winning ways with a convincing 3-0 victory against SK Beveren. Joel Bagan helped cement a clean sheet by playing the full 90 minutes for Essevee, who look to continue their surge for promotion with a game against RFC Liege next.
City youngsters in Scotland
Kilmarnock fell to a 3-1 defeat to champions Celtic. First half goals from Reo Hatate and Luis Palma gave Celtic a 2-0 lead, before David Watson brought one back for Killie after the break, though full back Greg Taylor sealed the victory for the leaders.
Loanee Tom Davies didn’t feature in this weeks’ fixture after being named on the substitutes bench, with the result leaving Kilmarnock eighth in the league standings.
The Scottish Championship saw first play second as Dundee United travelled to Raith Rovers in a top of the table clash. Rovers opened the scoring through Lewis Vaughan before Louis Moult levelled the score at 1-1. Neither team were able to find a winner, earning a point on the road and maintaining Dundee’s unbeaten league status. Ollie Denham was on the bench for Dundee.
Chanka on scoresheet for Maidenhead
Chanka Zimba scored one and created another in Maidenhead United’s recent match against Rochdale. Chanka was introduced in the 59th minute with Maidenhead 1-0 down and was immediately involved in levelling the score, neatly playing the ball to Reece Smith who slotted home for his third league goal of the season.
Chanka then gave his side the lead in the 85th minute, pouncing on a loose ball and coolly beating keeper Louie Molden. However, Rochdale managed to instantly equalise through Tyrese Sinclair as both sides had to settle for a point in a 2-2 draw.
King misses out for Morecambe
Eli King was unavailable for Morecambe this week due to injury. Morecambe continued their solid league form with a 3-1 victory over Colchester United thanks to a hattrick from JJ McKiernan.
