DAVIES SCORES IN BIG WIN
Not for the first time this season, Isaak Davies made an impression for KV Kortrijk, as he helped his side to a big 1-0 win over Charleroi.
On the stroke of half-time, the Welsh marksman collected a ball from Abdelkahar Kadri, before turning and picking his spot in the bottom corner. That was Davies’ first league goal since the start of December, taking his tally to five for the season.
Another two Bluebirds were involved for de Kerels this weekend. Japanese defender Ryotaro Tsunoda impressed as part of a back three, who have now kept two clean sheets in their last three games. Winger Sheyi Ojo also featured for the whole 90 minutes.
Elsewhere in Belgium, Joel Bagan played 69 minutes for Zulte Waregem, as they were defeated 1-0 at home by SK Beveren. The result keeps them in third place in the second tier.
HIGHLANDS HIGHLIGHTS
In Scotland, Eli King made his third consecutive start for Ross County in the Scottish Premiership, but they were defeated 1-0 by St. Johnstone. King played the whole 90 minutes, but County are still eleventh in the top tier. Tom Davies also featured in this week’s Premiership fixtures, as he helped Kilmarnock to a 1-1 draw against Motherwell.
In the Championship, there was a Dunfermline Atheltic debut for Xavier Benjamin, who fell to a 5-0 defeat at home to Greenock Morton. Fellow defender Malachi Fagan-Walcott also featured.
Another man who made his debut in the Championship was James Crole, who came on in the 96th minute for Queen’s Park in their crucial 1-0 away win against Inverness Caledonian Thistle. Queen’s Park stay ninth, while Dunfermline are one place above them in eighth.
CHAMPIONSHIP AND LEAGUE ONE LOANS
Ebou Adams went straight into the starting eleven for Derby County this weekend, as they beat Charlton Athletic 1-0 at the Valley; former Bluebird Nathaniel Mendez-Laing scored the only goal. Adams lasted 72 minutes on his first appearance. The win moves the Rams into second and into the automatic promotion spot.
In the Championship, Andy Rinomhota was an unused substitute for Rotherham United in their home defeat to Southampton.
KAVANAGH MAKES FIRST START
In the National League South, Ryan Kavanagh made his first appearance of the season for Truro City. The midfielder lasted 80 minutes on his debut, but City were defeated 2-1 by ten-man Hampton and Richmond Borough.
Jake Dennis also made his senior bow, featuring for Gloucester City on Tuesday evening as they fell to a 3-1 defeat at Chorley.
Elsewhere, Kieron Evans played the full 90 for Gateshead as they drew 1-1 with Eastleigh, with a 90+7 minute penalty drawing Evans' men level.
