Erol Bulut spoke to the press after our defeat to Leeds United on Saturday afternoon.
“We knew how important and how the difficult the game would be for us,” Erol began. “The plan for today was to stay compact and not allow the opponent many chances and to counter well, but after 23 minutes, we went down to 10 men, then we conceded the first goal.
“Against a club and a team like Leeds, with the quality they have, it’s not easy to come back and change the game. Also, in the first half, we invited them to make chances, because we lost the ball too easily. There were too many mistakes and if you make these against Leeds, they take the opportunities.
“In the second half, the players worked really hard to try and come back, but the second goal, we shouldn’t make that mistake.”
With the Whites heading into the break with a 1-0, the visitors’ victory was sealed by a second goal in the 87th minute.
Erol concluded: “When you get the ball, you have to come forward with it, but we made too many passing mistakes and we didn’t many enough runs in-behind. When all these are not how you need them, it’s difficult.
“When I see the first six games, whether it’s Sunderland, Middlesbrough or Burnley, what we tried to play, we had the chances, but we didn’t score. The results could be much different. Against Sunderland and Middlesbrough, we had many chances and conceded from a set-piece. In Derby, we conceded a goal from nothing after we could have scored three goals.”
