Kerry Walklett called up for England Futsal training camp

City’s Kerry Walklett has received her first call-up for England’s Futsal squad.

England Futsal recently announced the formation of a women’s senior programme, with the aim of competing in the Women’s Futsal World Cup.

Kerry has been included in a training camp ahead of their qualifying campaign, which takes place in May 2024.

The training camp will work towards identifying their full playing squad for the World Cup Qualifiers fixtures in the summer.

Whilst on international camp, the City midfielder will be unavailable for selection for our Adran Premier fixture against Barry Town United this Sunday.

Commenting on her call-up, Kerry said: “I’m extremely grateful & excited to be selected. It’s an amazing opportunity to be in with a chance of going to a World Cup and one I’ll be working hard to try and take.”

Bluebirds head coach Iain Darbyshire added: “We’re delighted for Kerry to be called up to England Futsal’s training camp. This is a fantastic opportunity for her to represent her country and we fully support her in doing that. We wish her well whilst on camp and look forward to her returning to the squad.”
