Assistant manager Nikolaos Karydas spoke to the press ahead of the Bluebirds' Emirates FA Cup clash against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
City boss Erol Bulut was not in attendance due to being unwell.
"Erol is quite ill, but we hope that he will be with us again soon," Niko began. "Erol is a giant and he has surprised me many times, so maybe he will be well enough to come with us."
Niko continued by providing an injury update on the First Team squad.
"I can say that Karlan [Grant]'s injury is not serious. We will try to manage his workload in the coming games so he will be ready to be back with us. Tomorrow is the last training session before the game and we will decide tomorrow.
"For this Saturday, Callum O'Dowda will not feature, but we hope he will be back soon. He is an important player and we don't want to rush him back and have a second injury that keeps him out for a longer period.
"Rambo (Aaron Ramsey) surprised me, because every day, I see him work very hard and we try to follow the same system, like Callum, of not rushing. We need the players to be full of health and when they come back, they are at their best."
Saturday's match will be Niko's first taste of the Emirates FA Cup, having joined the Bluebirds' coaching staff in the summer.
The City assistant boss added: "Yes, it is the first time, but I am a fan of British competitions. I don't just speak for myself when I say that it is an important competition for us. Of course, each game is important. The players have come from a long period with a lot of games, so we try and manage their tiredness.
"I remember watching the FA Cup, but in my mind, I have a lot of games, but I can say that all the FA Cup games that I have watched, I have liked, especially the Final."
