Jaden Philogene joins the Bluebirds on loan
We are delighted to announce the signing of Jaden Philogene on a season-long loan from Aston Villa, subject to clearance.
The winger has been with the Villans since January 2018, after signing from the Pro:Direct Academy in London.
Having impressed for the club’s U23 team, he was handed his First Team debut in May 2021, coming on as a late substitute in a 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.
Last season, the 20-year-old enjoyed a loan spell with Stoke City, making 11 appearances for the Potters and finding the net in a 3-0 win over Swansea City.
Philogene also possesses experience at international level, having been capped by both England U19s and U20s.
After arriving in the Welsh capital, Jaden said: “I was on pre-season tour with Aston Villa and I got a call from my agent, who said that a few Championship clubs wanted me on loan.
"I heard Cardiff City were the club that really wanted me to come, and that’s why I came here. It’s a Club with a big stadium, over 30,000, and I can’t wait to get started.
"I want to score goals and help my teammates. I can’t wait to show the fans, my family and everyone else what I can do.”
Bluebirds boss Steve Morison added: "I’m really happy. He’s someone we earmarked and looked at in January, but it wasn’t meant to be.
"We monitored him, and he became available this summer. We’ve got good relationships with a lot of clubs, so it was a deal that we wanted to do, and they wanted to do as well.
“Villa want to keep him on because they like him, so if he’s good enough for them, he’s good enough for us. It’s great for our depth, and great for competition.
"I’m excited with the wide players we have at our disposal now, and I think everyone else should be as well."
Welcome to Cardiff City, Jaden!
