Hudson pre-QPR | We need to be ruthless in how we play
Ahead of City's Boxing Day clash against Queens Park Rangers, Mark Hudson spoke to the press to preview the fixture.
With the R's arriving at CCS on Monday evening, Hudson discussed the opposition as the Bluebirds look to return to winning ways in the Welsh capital.
“They’re a good side," Mark began. "They’ve got good individuals, midfield and a frontline with good rotations.
"They’ve got a result from their last match, but we’ll be looking to expand on the first 45 minutes that we had against Blackpool. We want to build upon that, and make it last for a longer period where we play that way.
“We’ve had the meetings with the players and showed that if we play the way that we can over longer periods, then we will get more points from games. If we manage that, then we can go into games confident of being competitive against anyone.
"We’ve shown that, but we need to take points, be in that ruthless side of the game both defensively and while attacking. We’ll look to get three points on Boxing Day.”
Reflecting on the First Team players who featured for City's U21 side earlier this week, Hudson shared his thoughts on the selection competition that is now in place as players return from injury.
“I want to be put in those positions where I have to make decisions for people pushing to get into the side," Hudson explained. "It’s exactly what we want and we speak about it with the players; everyone wants to be in the starting XI and wearing the shirt, with more competition to be on the bench.
“It’s been a positive week for those who’ve come through playing earlier in the week for the U21 side, which is great."
