Hudson post-Sheffield United | We weren't ruthless enough
Mark Hudson spoke to the press following the Bluebirds’ narrow home defeat to Sheffield United at Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
A second-half strike from defender George Baldock was enough to see the Blades take all three points in the Welsh capital.
“I think in the first half, we were as dominant as we could be,” Hudson began. “We created opportunities to score but I don't think we were ruthless enough.
“That's something that we spoke about at half-time, but ultimately, we didn't start the second half well enough. It’s about managing moments in the game, a bit of a momentum swing, and we've got to be better at that on the pitch.
“If we weren't creating opportunities, it'd be much worse, but we are creating them. It's about being ruthless, and unfortunately, we weren't that today.
“It's about confidence in front of goal, and it's something that we have to work on. However, I have no doubt that we'll score goals going forward.”
Mark Harris and Rubin Colwill both featured for the Bluebirds in their final appearances before Wales’ 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign, and Hudson was full of praise for the duo ahead of the tournament.
He concluded: “We've got two boys going over in a Welsh World Cup squad, which is excellent for club and country. I wish them all the very best with that. I told them to go out there and enjoy themselves."
