Harris pre-Leeds | A chance to put down a marker
Neil Harris held a virtual press conference ahead of the Bluebirds’ return to Sky Bet Championship football against Leeds United.
Speaking to the press & media via video link, Harris set his sights on Sunday’s behind-closed-doors clash at Cardiff City Stadium.
“We’re really looking forward to Sunday,” he began. “I think it was great for all of us to see Premier League football back on the TV last night too.
“It feels like a very long time without a game. But since we’ve been back in, Sunday’s fixture does now seem to be coming around quickly.
“Seeing the Premier League football really hit home what it’s going to be like. We know we’re coming back into the business end of the season, and the players and I want to hit the ground running.”
The match sees the Bluebirds take on Marcelo Bielsa’s table-topping Whites and, after a thrilling comeback in the reverse fixture at Elland Road, Harris called for his players to relish the challenge in the Welsh capital.
“Leeds deserve to be top of the league, because they’ve been the most consistent team over the course of the season so far,” he continued.
“We respect that; they have some fantastic players, have invested heavily in the set-up there and have gone all out to be promoted.
“It’s a great test for us and we look forward to it. When you start fresh and look to build, you want to put down a marker.
“If we play to our capabilities and put in a performance on the day, we’ve got a chance to put down that marker for the rest of the season.”
