Harris post-Sunderland | We took the game to them
After netting the only goal of the game at the Stadium of Light on Saturday, a delighted Mark Harris gave his post-match thoughts to the media.
"I think it was thoroughly deserved." Sparky began. "I think after our goal, obviously it was normal that we dropped back in to defend our lead.
"But, I thought first half, we were excellent. We were on the front foot, we were pressing them well, and I thought I should have taken an opportunity in the first half myself. But, in the end we got the three points.
"Even after the penalty save, we kept on the front foot, and took the game to them. Being away from home, I thought that was very good."
The Welsh international scored the winner after 49 minutes, doing his chances of featuring in Rob Page's World Cup squad no harm.
He said: "I knew I'd get another chance. Luckily it was Mahlon who found me in the box, but I just had to keep my head down and focus on getting the right connection on the ball. Luckily, it went into the net.
"As soon as it left my foot, I looked over to the linesman straight away! As I was running, I was just thinking, "Please don't lift the flag!". But he didn't, thankfully."
On his potential inclusion in the Wales squad for Qatar, Sparky added: "Next week is the deciding week, so I've got everything crossed. I've been in the squad for the last year and made a few appearances, but it's just about concentrating and playing as well as I can for Cardiff City, and hoping that Rob Page sees that."
