Hannah Power named Cardiff City Women captain

Women
Hannah Power has been named City Women captain ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

The centre-back is in her second spell in the Welsh capital, having rejoined the Club in 2015.

Hannah has played a crucial part in our success and was key to claiming a domestic treble in the 2023/24 season, achieving the feat for the first time in Club history.

For much of her City career, she has played alongside and learned from previous captain Siobhan Walsh, who retired this summer after representing the side since 2011.

Emma Beynon and Megan Bowen have been named City's vice-captains.

Commenting on being given the armband, Hannah said: "It's such an honour. I'm really proud to be the captain of this team. I'm looking forward to helping the team in any way I can, both on and off the pitch.

"I learned a lot from playing with Siobhan [Walsh]. She was such a great captain for us. I'm hoping that I can take what I have learned from her into this role.

"The girls are great and they're all so supportive, so it's a really good squad to be the captain of. I'm looking forward to helping them and I know that they will help me as well."

Head coach Iain Darbyshire added: “Hannah is fully deserving of being named captain and we’re delighted that she’ll be leading the team going forward. She is such an important figure and has played a huge part in our success.

“I’m really confident that she’ll excel in the role, as she is a great leader and gives everything for the Club.”
