Four new recruits added to City's U21s
Four new Bluebirds have joined Darren Purse's U21s side ahead of the 2024/25 season.
The Club would like to welcome goalkeeper Ewan Griffiths, midfielder Adeteye Gbadehan, as well as attackers Michael Reindorf and Luke Pearce to the Welsh capital.
Speaking about his new recruits, U21 head coach Purse said: "I'm really excited. If you look at the U21s squad as a whole, it's another evolution for us. The opportunity is there for the players that have gone up to the First Team and now, we've got the next ones coming through at U21 level.
"We've added a bit of experience onto that with the additions that we have made. The players that we have signed will help the ones that we currently have in the building and we'll have real competition for places, which will be really healthy for us going forward."
Academy Manager Gavin Chesterfield added: “We wanted to add a little bit of experience to what will continue to be a very young U21 side this season. All four players add something different to the team and they have already integrated well with their new teammates.”
Goalkeeper Ewan Griffiths joins the Bluebirds following a successful trial at the end of the 2023/24 season.
Speaking after signing the deal, the shot-stopper said: "My family are all Cardiff City fans, so it's a great honour for me to be here. Being on trial here at the end of last season, I felt that everything about the Club was a perfect fit for me.
"It was a great experience and I felt really settled. The coaches were great with me so signing here is a no-brainer."
Adeteye Gbadehan, who hails from USA, bolsters City U21s' midfield options ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
"I'm very pleased to be joining Cardiff City," Adeteye began. "The coaches and all the staff have all been very helpful, I'm very happy to get started and get to work.
"Having been to the stadium, you get chills just walking around. I'm hoping I can play at Cardiff City Stadium very soon and get out there."
Michael Reindorf operates as both an attacking midfielder and a striker joins the Bluebirds having most recently been at Norwich City.
Commenting on joining the Club, Michael said: "I'm very excited to join Cardiff City. It's a new journey and a new beginning, I can't wait to get started. At my previous clubs, my attitude was to work hard each and every day. I want to come here and show everyone what I can do."
Luke Pearce has moved to the Bluebirds having previously been at Southampton.
The 20-year-old is an explosive attacker with plenty of experience in the Premier League 2.
"I'm really pleased," Luke said. "It's a massive club and it's a great opportunity for me to kick on and progress my career. I'm really excited to join the Club.
"It's a place that is definitely on the up, so for me personally, I feel like it's a good place for me to push on now. I've met the lads and they're a good bunch. I definitely feel like I'm going to fit in and that I can do well here."
