FAW announce the Adran League system

Phoebie Poole netted her second consecutive hat-trick...
Cardiff City FC Women will compete in the Genero Adran Premier in 2021/22.

The Welsh system has taken on a new name, structure and identity, as announced by the FAW this morning.

The Bluebirds will be joined in the top flight by Cardiff Met, Swansea City, Port Talbot Town, The New Saints, Aberystwyth TownPontypridd Town and Barry Town United.

The Adran Premier, replacing the WPWL, will see all eight teams do battle home and away. After these 14 fixtures, the league will be split into a top and bottom four. The top four clubs then play against each other and the same for the bottom four clubs, both home and away. The winners of the Adran Premier will represent Wales in the UEFA Women's Champions League, while the team that finishes 8th place will be relegated to Adran South or Adran North.

The Adran Leagues have been sponsored by Genero. The two-year deal between Genero and the Adran Leagues is the most lucrative sponsorship of women’s domestic football in Wales to date.

City's U19 team will also be playing in a league falling under new Adran pyramid. The young Bluebirds will be included in the Adran South U19 league for 2021/22.

The new league system will begin in September, with fixtures to be announced in the near future!
