Erol pre-Sunderland | We want to play on the front foot
Erol Bulut spoke to the press to preview our Sky Bet Championship opener against Sunderland.
The City boss opened by reflecting on what has been a positive pre-season.
“We had six really good weeks with the team, working really hard," Erol began. "We had good friendly games and in every match, we added to our game. The last game against Bristol Rovers was really good.
“It’s really important to get wins before the league season starts for the atmosphere and confidence of the players. Up until now, everything has gone well.
“We have a tough opponent on Saturday, but I think my players will be ready for that competition."
In the 2023/24 campaign, the Bluebirds finished 12th in the Sky Bet Championship table, marking a season of progress.
Erol continued: "Of course, the home form, everybody is targeting to have more wins at home. When we see last season, I think we had nine or ten wins at home, and away, nearly the same. It could be better. We had many games where we could win and we didn’t manage to keep the result until the end, where we conceded goals.
"This season, one of our targets also, is to have more wins at home and to show offensive football, aggressive football at home. This, game by game, changes. You cannot always say that now, we have to attack only, it depends which opponents you are playing."
Bulut's men return to Cardiff City Stadium for our first competitive home fixture since April 27th.
The opening day is a hugely anticipated date in the football calendar, with the Bluebirds back in action on Saturday.
"I’m hoping that the stadium is full," Erol added. "I think the supporters, they have also been waiting for that day, it’s a long time ago that we had a game in front of our fans.
"They want to see the team and support the team. This is the twelfth power behind us, our fans. Last season, they support us away and at home great.
"We try to give back something back with good football and three points. I hope for a good start on Saturday with three points to make the fans happy."
