Erol pre-Coventry City | We have to fight
EROL BULUT SPOKE TO THE PRESS AHEAD OF our EASTER MONDAY FIXTURE AWAY at COVENTRY CITY.
“We’ve been in this situation before where we’ve had a negative series of results, but we’ve come back from them,” Erol began. “That time we had injuries, and it was a little bit different. We will look back at videos from Friday and see what we can do better.
"We spoke about how in the Ipswich game we were 1-0 down, but we woke up and we were able to change it. Against Sunderland we had enough time to change things, but we couldn’t get our confidence back.”
City defeated the Sky Blues 3-2 back in mid-September thanks to goals scored by Dimitrios Goutas, Karlan Grant, and Kion Etete.
“We can look back and see which players we had available against Coventry back then. It was early in the season, and we had most players with us, not many had injuries.
"When you look at the whole season, our performances have been too up and down, so this also breaks our way of playing a little bit.
When we can have consistent performances, maybe we could have a few more points, but we can’t forget how we started the season and pre-season with players, punishments, only able to sign a couple of players. It was not an easy period.”
The Sky Blues became FA Cup Semi-Finalists before the international break and sit one place outside the Play-Offs, with the gaffer is expecting a tough game in the West Midlands.
“Coventry play a good game. They didn’t start the season very well, with a couple of negative results as well, but now they’re in a good mood.
"They won on Friday, but this doesn’t say anything. Sunderland hadn’t won their last six games, but it was different against us.
"We have to be concentrated and focused on those moments in the game, then everything will change. We have to be back where we were against Ipswich.”
Erol concluded: “The fans are as disappointed as us for sure, more than us, because they come and support us everywhere, home and away.
“They’re great when we travel, and we want to give them as much as possible; to give everything for the three points. The very least we can do is to fight, run, and try, and to not give up early.”
