Erol post-Sunderland | We have to take our chances
EROL BULUT SPOKE TO THE press FOLLOWING our defeat TO SUNDERLAND ON THE OPENING DAY OF THE SKY BET CHAMPIONSHIP season.
“Of course I’m disappointed by the result," Erol began. “But, I’m not disappointed with what we showed in the 90 minutes. We controlled the game, conceding from the free-kick, our concentration wasn’t where it should be.
"We had chances to score, we just couldn’t manage it but today, we try to look at the positives. It’s one of 46 games, so we look ahead to the next game”.
The Bluebirds had the majority of possession, but the Black Cats were clinical when chances arose to take the three points.
Erol continued: “We tried to have as much of the ball as possible. Today against Sunderland, who are a tough team, all that we were missing was the goal.
"We trained for this possession, sometimes the concentration isn’t where it needs to be, but we can learn from that.
"How you saw today against Sunderland is that we managed to have more of the ball than the opponent and this is what we are trying to do this season. We also have to make sure we score the goals, but this will come.
"I see positives; today we didn’t score, but we created chances and in the coming weeks, we will be on the positive side."
Erol concluded by providing a fitness updates on his City squad.
He stated: “Wilfried Kanga came in late, so he’s not really fit. Chris Willock needs games to get ready and Anwar El Ghazi still needs a few weeks. When we get all the new arrivals in, it will be positive.
"We have to be happy that Aaron completed 90 minutes. He has to stay healthy; last season he was out for four months. Today he tried a lot, he worked a lot, and we have to manage Aaron and Callum O’Dowda to have them mostly available to play for us."
