Erol post-Sheffield Wednesday | We fought as a team
Erol Bulut spoke to the media after the Bluebirds came from behind once again to record an away victory, defeating Sheffield Wednesday 1-2.
"It was hard work. We knew it would not be easy, because they had won three of their last four games at home. It was not a game where you could play nice football, make combinations and score goals. Today was all about fighting and running.
"In the first half not so much, but in the second half we showed team spirit, and teamwork. At the start of the week we had a meeting with the team, and we said that we had to change our work on the field.
"Today, we were fighting as a team and deserved the three points in the end."
A goal down at the break, the gaffer spoke about the changes which brought about our second half comeback.
"The opponent was trying, always, to play long balls behind the full backs and centre backs, to find positions. They had some shots, and they scored one of those.
"In the dressing room we exchanged some words with the players, and the second half was much, much better. Also, the substitutes were good and helped us a lot today.
"In the last few games, sometimes it was nice football, but you have to work hard. In the following days, and up until the end of the season, there will be games like today. My team showed today that they want to be back where they were before.
"I said that we need a new start, and today was a great start. I hope we can continue like that in the next games."
Erol commented on the positive impacts made by Karlan Grant and Joe Ralls, and also provided an update on Iké Ugbo's fitness.
"KG is working hard in all the games. He runs a lot - we see his distances, what he is doing. He is one of the best players in the team, and his work rate is high.
"In the second half we changed him to the number 10 position, where he could make the runs between the centre backs and full backs. We made a goal from that with him, so I hope he can continue like that and some more goals can follow.
"Joe Ralls is a quality player for us, an important player. He is our captain, our leader. On the field, you could see today how he was fighting, and the passing options he made. This is what we need, and I hope he does not get any injuries.
"Iké Ugbo is injured - he has a hamstring problem from the last game. I think he will be away from us for 10 days."
