Erol post-Bristol Rovers | Plenty of positives
EROL BULUT SPOKE TO THE MEDIA FOLLOWING Our CARABAO CUP first round WIN over BRISTOL ROVERS.
The Bluebirds claimed a 2-0 victory thanks to goals from Mark McGuinness and Rubin Colwill.
“It’s important that players come in, change the game and change the result.” Erol began. “Not just for the cup games, but for the league too. We just started, but it’s a long league season.
“First half today, it wasn’t exactly what we want to show, we played too slow. Second half was much better, we tried to play quicker, stretch the game much better and then, we created chances to score.
"There could have been more goals today, this is about decision making in front of goal, whether to pass or shoot."
Rubin Colwill was named Man of the Match after an impressive performance, in which he sealed the victory with a clinical finish late-on.
Erol continued: "At the end, he scored and I’m happy for him. This is what I’m expecting from him, to shoot more, to create more.
"He’s a great player and can be much better. He’ll have to work on a few things in his game, but we’ll try to push him to get to that level.
"For sure, he is responding to that. Even if he plays for 20 minutes, he’ll try to put 90 minutes of effort in 20 minutes."
Another positive was the performances of U21 players, with striker Michael Reindorf in particular impressing as a substitute.
"Some young players that we used today, like Michael, he looked really good. We have really good youngsters, but we have to manage them.
"We have to think about everything. For the whole season, we need more quality and experience, but the youngsters, we need to use them where they can help us.
"Of course, Kion [Etete] got injured, Isaak [Davies] is out for a few months. The injuries are not our friend these first few weeks, but Michael scored six goals for the U21s, this is the reason he was on the field tonight."
