We are pleased to confirm that goalkeeper Ethan Horvath has signed for the Bluebirds on a permanent transfer from Nottingham Forest, subject to international clearance.
The 28-year-old spent time in Norway and Belgium before making the move to the Championship with Nottingham Forest in 2021. He has agreed a deal until June 2027.
Horvath earned promotion to the Premier League with Forest during his first season at the City Ground, coming off the bench in their 2022 Championship Play-Off Final victory. He then joined Luton Town on loan and enjoyed more Play-Off success, winning consecutive promotions to the top flight.
During his time at Kenilworth Road, the stopper recorded 20 league clean sheets in 44 appearances. He also has nine international caps to his name, and was named in the United States squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Upon completing his signing at Cardiff City Stadium, Ethan said: "I’m really excited to be here. It’s a massive Club here in Wales. I spoke to a lot of people about the Club before coming and they had nothing but positive things to speak about. They have history in the Premier League.
"The manager has ambitions, he has a plan and I’m really looking forward to being part of that. I’m going to do my best to help the Club reach their goals and ambitions."
A delighted Erol Bulut commented: “He is an international player with USA and got promoted from the Championship with Luton Town & Nottingham Forest. He knows the league and that is important for a goalkeeper. Right now, with Jak Alnwick and Horvath, we have two great goalkeepers.
“It’s important, you can not only have loan players. You have to sign permanent players. I think the next few years, the goal is safe here at Cardiff City.”
Welcome to the Welsh capital, Ethan!
