Famara Diédhiou spoke to Cardiff City TV ahead of our Sky Bet Championship clash against Ipswich Town on Saturday.
The striker netted his first goal for City last time out, finding the winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Huddersfield Town at Cardiff City Stadium.
“It honestly feels amazing,” Famara began. “I’ve been waiting for that moment for a long time. I’m happy to score and get three points in the bag.
“Of course, I need more minutes, so I try to work hard during the week to be ready for the games. I’m just happy to score and congratulations to the squad.
“We had to keep a clean sheet, three in-a-row. The players work hard in the week to be fit and ready for the games, so we have to look forward now and keep going.”
Saturday’s opponents, Ipswich Town, currently sit second in the Sky Bet Championship table, having enjoyed an impressive first season back in the second-tier.
The Tractor Boys hosted Bristol City in midweek and claimed a dramatic 3-2 victory, with left-back Leif Davis netting an 89th minute winner.
Famara continued: “They are flying at the moment. The most important thing for us is to be ready.
“I think it will be a good game, a tough game, so we have to be ready and we’ll try to do everything. It’s here, a home game and we have to be fit and ready. We have to look at ourselves and you never know."
Ipswich Town started their midweek fixture with a centre-back partnership of Luke Woolfenden and Cameron Burgess.
Despite their standing in the table, their defensive record of 47 goals conceded in the Sky Bet Championship this season is ranked ninth in the division.
“I like the fight and the battle,” Famara added. “I have missed that so much. I have to improve myself and keep going.
“The wingers we have, I’m looking always for the crosses and the cutbacks. It worked against Huddersfield, so hopefully, it happens again on Saturday.”
