Conte post-Penybont | A good experience

Raheem Conte spoke TO cardiffcityfc.co.uk after scoring in City's 7-1 win against Penybont FC on Tuesday evening.

“Coming into this season, I feel like our main focus is to make sure we’re putting the ball into the back of the net." Raheem explained.

"So, it’s pleasing from the team’s perspective to do that tonight, but also from an individual one too to get one. To show I still have that winger quality when I’m playing right back is good.

“I’m definitely enjoying it. It’s a new experience. I feel at right back, I’m still doing the things I’m doing as a winger but just a bit further back. I can still use my legs to get forward as I’m quite a strong runner, so it’s been a good experience.

“Being in with the boys in the First Team, it’s my first time so I’m just embracing it.”

Raheem was one of several young players who signed a new contract with the Club this summer, after impressing for the First Team last season. 

“The manager has definitely opened it up for all ages - you see Ronan [Kpakio] coming in and shining and just showing that quality has no age.

“I want to show the manager that I’m reliable, that I’m ready for the Championship. Coming off the back of the end of last season, I want to show the manager when there are points up for grabs that I can really do something.

“It’s a good atmosphere here right now, especially with the new boys coming in, we’re all making them feel warm and welcome. There’s that good banter with the lads so it’s all been good so far.

“I’m looking to continue to impress, keep showing what I can do up and down the pitch, which is all I’m focused on right now.”
