Secondary Education team welcome pupils onboard to their Junior Apprenticeship pathway
A one-year Junior Apprenticeship pathway has been developed for Year 11 students in collaboration between Cardiff City FC Community Foundation and Cardiff & Vale College.
Students enrolled in this programme will be based at Cardiff City House of Sport for two days per week, delivered by Community Foundation staff, then at Cardiff & Vale College for three days.
This is a unique opportunity for students to gain valuable skills and qualifications that can lead to careers in football coaching, sports related industries and sports development roles.
Last week, the team kicked things off with a warm-up session and a stadium tour at Cardiff City Stadium! The Community Foundation look forward to seeing their participants back with them in September to help them develop game changing life skills that will set them up for success.

Head in the Game: Millie and Lily's Achievement at Pencaerau Primary
The Community Foundation’s Head in the Game project gave best friends, Millie and Lily, the tools to regulate their emotions, maintain focus, and form healthy relationships in preparation for their next step to secondary school.
Finding it hard to concentrate in class, both became disruptive in lessons and group settings, and were disengaged from schoolwork. Millie and Lily also avoided sports and did not enjoy physical activity.
But, positive reinforcement from Community Foundation mentor, Tobi, has helped them to enjoy their work and gave them a sense of purpose. The project also gave them the opportunity to come out of their shells, making them more confident and resilient in group activities.
"I really enjoyed the Head in the Game programme this year. I had so much fun learning with my friends, especially Lily. My favourite part was being part of Mental Health Week where we exercised on the actual pitch of Cardiff City Stadium.
"I also enjoyed learning about emotions with Tobi, which has really helped me. The programme has made me feel happier and helped me make more friends."
