Community Foundation Day 2024 Recap

Community
Saturday’s fixture against Plymouth Argyle was not only a great result on the pitch but an incredible one for Cardiff City FC Community Foundation as we were able to showcase their work and impact with you – the fans.

As soon as the gates opened, the Community Foundation team were busy throughout the stadium chatting about their work across South Wales and collecting your generous donations, highlighting their hat-trick of goals – to improve health and wellbeing, support learning and skills, and build stronger communities.

Matchday highlights

Thanks to Saturday's Match Sponsors, Everlast Gyms, Community Foundation staff from their further and higher education provision went head-to-head in a Relay Row challenge – competing to row the most 1.25 km's until kick-off!

Fans were also treated to a performance by pupils from Pencaerau Primary School, one of the Community Foundation’s partner schools. As beneficiaries of our Primary School services, they were selected to perform as a token of appreciation for their hard work throughout the last academic year.

Some of their youngest beneficiaries had the opportunity to walk out on the pitch as mascots with their favourite players, selected and recognised for their leadership and inclusion during soccer schools and their Premier League Primary Stars programme.

Gabriella, Amari, Lucas, and Alfee had the opportunity to discuss their experiences and the impact of our education and outreach programmes with special guests Alex Barros-Curtis MP and Jack Sargeant MS, whom we were thrilled to welcome to CCS.

Primary Education Coordinator, Luke Jenkins Jones, said: "Our football-themed educational resources and challenges help take learning to the next level. We were thrilled to bring the children who have benefited from our primary education services to the stadium, giving them this well-deserved experience and showcasing their progress and development to our guests."

More beneficiaries from our Secondary Education and Kicks projects took to the pitch for centre circle duties and even faced off against Bartley in a halftime penalty shootout.

The players proudly took to the pitch in Community Foundation warm-up tops and displayed the Foundation’s logo on their shirts during the match.

You can raise funds for the Community Foundation which will support their continued life-changing work by placing a bid on a matchworn shirt.
