Ahead of Saturday’s trip to Pride Park, Rubin Colwill spoke to the press at CCS.
Returning from the international break having travelled with the Wales national team, Rubin discussed the return to Club action, beginning with this weekend’s away fixture against the Rams.
“Coming back from the break, I’m trying to push my way into the starting eleven and help the team,” Rubin began. “It’s just about working hard everyday to show what I can do, and hopefully I can be in the starting team, and if not come off the bench and try to make an impact. I’m plugging away.
“I feel like I’m in a good place in my game, which has given me confidence. I’m always looking to improve, and if the Manager wants to put me in on Saturday then I feel that I’m ready to play from the start.
“Everybody wants a run of games in the team, but you’ve got to earn that and put yourself in a good position to play.
“I think that we could’ve gotten more from some of the matches we’ve played so far this season, but looking forward we’ve got to build on what we did in pre-season and get points on the board. It’s only up from here, so it’s quite exciting.”
With City travelling to Derbyshire looking to start a good run of form from the latest block of fixtures, Rubin continued by sharing his thoughts on how the Bluebirds can react to pressure and get a result away from home.
“We’ve got a really good squad with a lot of good players, and I think it’s a matter of time until we’re off to the races,” said Rubin. “There’s always pressure, but we’re used to it and we just need to look at getting results.
He concluded: “We’re all working hard and trying to get ourselves in the best possible position for Saturday to pick up some points. We know that we just need things to click and kick on.”
