Collins pre-Bristol City | We need a proper away performance
James Collins spoke to the press ahead of Saturday afternoon’s trip to Ashton Gate.
The City striker expressed his excitement for the fixture at hand against the Robins, making clear the need for the Bluebirds to perform well from the off.
“We look forward to every game in the league,” Collins began. "But especially when it’s Bristol who are a local derby for us. We’re excited and know that we need to be right at it to go there and get a result.
“The back end of the season is always important, and we know that we need to start picking up results. We’re playing some good stuff against teams and getting more possession, more shots but just not scoring.
“It’s down to us as a team, and for us forward lads to go there on Saturday, get on the scoresheet and put in a proper away performance, quieting the home crowd and stopping them in how they want to play.”
With a sold-out away end at Ashton Gate on Saturday, James praised the support from the stands so far this season, and eagerly awaits the City faithful’s return to CCS over the course of the next few weeks.
“Away from home the fans have been absolutely outstanding this year,” he continued. “I see that they’ve sold out their allocation for Saturday, which will obviously be fantastic. We need our fans, every club does and the last two games at home have been a bit weird without them.
“To have supporters back next week against Nottingham Forest will be a massive boost for everyone. Hopefully we can get our home form back on track and give them something to cheer about.”
He concluded: “The back end of this month is a really busy time. We’re really going to need the supporters now, as we’ve got some big games at home, playing teams in and around us on the table.
“The fans getting behind us can really help in earning some much-needed results.”
