Collins post-Millwall | We battled for the three points
Jamilu Collins spoke to the press following the Bluebirds’ 1-0 win against Millwall this afternoon at Cardiff City Stadium.
“It was not the ideal game for us”, JC began. "We had a plan, but obviously the opponent had their own plan and things went in a different way.
"At the end of the day, we won, this is what is more important for us and then we will look at the parts where we made mistakes and try to correct ourselves before the next game. We are happy to get the win.”
Despite the game being a scrappy affair, City managed to dig deep and take all three points home.
“We know Millwall. In these kinds of games they are always at 100% in everything they do, so we had to be ready for the kind of opponent that they are.
"The manager told us what to do and it is what we were doing. The game didn’t look great to watch, but what is more important for us is the win.
"We’ve lost some games where we have played really good, and today was one of those days where maybe we weren’t so good and yet we have got the points, so we are happy with that.
“It’s been quite a tough period for me with a long injury, but having a group of players like this makes it a lot easier.
“I have to do what I have to do. I have to try to give a good performance. This is the Championship, everything is possible."
Collins’ defensive teammate Dimitrios Goutas scored the goal which secured the points for the Bluebirds.
The defender continued: “You can see he is a solid rock. Him and Macca [Mark McGuinness] are doing really well, so I am really happy seeing both of them playing how they are playing. Hopefully, they just continue with the same performances every game.”
The win sees City rise by three places, and level with the Play-Off spots on goal difference.
“The manager already told us that right now everything is tight, there is not that much of a difference from the top to the bottom. What he wants from us is not to be far away, to always be close to the top teams and this is what we are doing.
“Our target is just to perform good and win games, and wherever we end up we take it from there. You guys can see, the way you guys see him [Erol] from the outside, that is the way he is on the inside. I think for a manager like that to be at Cardiff City is a blessing.”
