City in Focus | Mackenzie Olden nearing return

Women
Striker Mackenzie Olden is making progress on her recovery from injury, having sustained an ACL injury against Aberystwyth Town last season.

The attacker has been working closely with Soft Tissue Therapist & Sports Rehabber Aimi Healey-Bracher, Strength and Conditioning Coach Maisie Gudmunsen and Lead Analyst Calum O’Neill to ensure a smooth transition back to fitness.

The attacker was on a positive run of form heading into the fixture in which she got injured, but has set her sights on a return to netting for the Bluebirds.

Giving an update on her road to recovery, Mackenzie said: “It’s going really well and I’m making good progress every day and I’m coming towards the end of my rehabilitation journey. I’m feeling stronger than I have been before.

"I have been working well with Aimi and Maisie, where they have helped me gain my confidence and fitness. They keep pushing me every day and keep me going.

"I am also working closely with Calum who is helping me to gain back my technical ability and confidence on the ball."

Mackenzie is part of a very tightly-knit City Women squad and during her rehabilitation, she has had the full support of her teammates.

She added: “All the girls have been really helpful, especially a couple of girls who have had this experience before. I have learned so much from them, all the staff have helped me and given me so much support and I couldn’t thank them enough.

"I can’t wait to be back playing, I’m nearly there now. It’s been a long road, but I have been working harder than ever on my rehab and feeling much stronger.”
