City in Focus | Danielle Green influential from the sidelines

Danielle Green
On the way to City Women winning the treble, Danielle Green played a huge role in the Bluebirds' success.

Green, who was named City's Player of the Season at the end of the 2022/23 campaign, has spent much of this season supporting from the sidelines, as she prepares for motherhood.

"With my experience, I feel I’ve tried to give as much support and guidance as I can from the side," Danielle began. "I hope that has contributed to us being successful this season.

"I’ve continued to show my support at the games as I wanted to keep myself involved as much as I could."

It was a remarkable campaign for Iain Darbyshire's side, who secured a domestic treble for the first time in the Club's history.

Danielle continued: "I'm really proud of all the girls. It’s been a season to remember for so many reasons. We’ve won everything possible and now we can top it off by competing in the Women's Champions League again.

"We’ve been working towards this for many years and I think over the last two years, we’ve outshone other teams and finally we have reaped the rewards."

The Bluebirds' squad has a core of experienced players, who have represented the Club for many years.

As well as Green, captain Siobhan Walsh, goalkeeper Ceryn Chamberlain, full-back Lisa Owen and centre-back Hannah Power have all spent a great deal of their careers in the Welsh capital.

"Our mentality is what has made us successful over the last two seasons," Danielle added. "We’ve always been technically great, but we missed out in terms of our mental ability when we came against other strong teams.

"I feel we’ve over come this now and we know no one can stop us when we are playing with confidence.

"To see the how the girls have been putting in the work and the amount of time and effort they’ve given over ten years for this Club is just super rewarding and I couldn’t be prouder of them all."
