Cian Ashford extends contract with the Bluebirds
Cardiff City Football Club are pleased to announce that Cian Ashford has extended his professional contract with the Club.
The 19-year-old, who has made four competitive appearances for the First Team this season across the Club's cup campaigns, has now put pen to paper on a deal that will see him remain at Cardiff City Stadium until June 2027.
Having initially joined the Academy aged six, Cian has impressed at youth level for both Club and country this season, notably scoring five goals in City's U21 side's Nathaniel MG Cup run alongside two goals scored for Wales U21 during their ongoing UEFA European Championship Qualifying campaign.
Speaking at CCS after signing, Cian said: “It’s a great feeling after all these years to sign a new deal. My family and I have followed the Club our whole lives, and I’ve played for them my whole career so far, so it’s a really proud moment for us.
“You sacrifice a lot even from a young age, and my parents have given up a lot to take me back and forth from training, following me all across the country to come and watch my games. A lot of effort has gone into this, but I’m really happy."
Reflecting on his current campaign so far before turning his attention towards the remainder of the season with his boyhood club, Cian continued: “This season I’ve just been playing and enjoying my football, so the success this year for me has been going out there and playing with a smile on my face.
“To make that step into the First Team is the goal, and I’ve really enjoyed a new and different challenge with them. I’m looking forward to the rest of the season and seeing what the rest of it brings. It’s been a really good season and I hope to carry it on.”
Congratulations, Cian!
