Erol Bulut

Bulut post-Kidderminster Harriers | We're working hard

Interviews
Erol Bulut spoke to the press after Cardiff City’s first preseason fixture on Wednesday night.

“These are the games to prepare for the season, to see young players, the older players, but today was a game we lost,” Erol began. “The opponent had maybe two or three shots on goal, and we conceded one, so we are disappointed about that. We created a lot of chances in the game, but we didn’t score.

“Pre-season is about working hard on the issues that you had last season. Our problem last season was that we created chances, but didn’t score the goals, and we’re still talking about that point now. It’s good that we know which positions we need, and I hope those players will come into the team early, and then we have time to finalise things.”

Bulut named Joel Colwill at right-back for the match, a position he was unfamiliar with. However, the manager believes he did well.

“We wanted to see Joel in that position," said Erol. "Perry Ng had a problem with his hip, so we wanted to try with Joel at right-back. He did well today, especially considering he’s never played there before, and in possession he was okay.”

The Bluebirds’ next game will be on Saturday against Belgian side Kortrijk, and Erol explained what will happen in the days leading up to the match.

“The next game against Kortrijk is on Saturday in the same stadium, so it’s good that we’ve gotten used to playing here tonight,” Erol concluded. “Over the next few days we will prepare ourselves again, we will train, and we will repeat things over and over again. We want to score goals.

“Defensively, I thought we were good, there were just some small details that we need to work on. We will work on those for Saturday, and in every game we play, I want to see us getting better and better.”
