Bluebirds selected for U17 duty
45% of Wales’ U17 squad for their upcoming training camp will be coming from our very own Academy.
Alyas Debono, Cody Twose, Dakarai Mafico, Dylan Lawlor, Gabriele Biancheri, Luey Giles, Luke Armstrong & Troy Perrett were all originally selected for European Under-17 Championship 2023 – Qualifying Round fixtures against Croatia, Sweden & Albania, with eight of the 20-man side representing City on the international stage. Ronan Kpakio was added to the squad on Friday afternoon.
Speaking about the inclusion of our players, Head of Academy Coaching Dane Facey, said: “It’s a great achievement for those players selected to have the opportunity to represent their country in some highly challenging fixtures as part of these UEFA qualifiers. As an Academy, we are proud to see our young players testing themselves against some of the best players in Europe, and we’re excited to see how these opportunities will challenge and test their learning.”
Our U18 fixture with Ipswich Town, originally scheduled for October 22nd, will be rearranged due to these call-ups.
