Darren Purse has bolstered his U21 squad with the signing of winger Baylin Johnson.

Previously of Bournemouth, the 19-year-old has gained experience with loan spells at Dorchester and Lecce.

The dynamic and direct winger is our fifth signing at U21 level this summer, following the arrivals of Ewan Griffiths, Adeteye Gbadehan, Luke Pearce and Michael Reindorf.

Following his move to the Welsh capital, Baylin said: "I'm absolutely delighted to have signed for this Club. I know it has a lot of history of players coming through, there's a big fanbase and a huge stadium, so I'm really glad to be here.

"I'm a player that can add goals and assists to the team. I like to take players on and carry the ball forward. Hopefully, I can excite the crowd."

U21 head coach Purse added: "I think Baylin brings a different dynamic to our U21s. He's quick, direct and can beat a player. He's a different player to what we've currently got and can bring a different dimension to how we want to play. I think he'll be a good signing for us and brings competition for places, which we're striving for.

"I think you need variation all over the pitch, whether it's someone who can beat a player or someone you can rely on defensively, there's a lot of different dynamics that you need to create a team. From that point of view, Baylin is a signing that we're happy to get done."
