The City left-back came on as an early substitute, before producing an outstanding display.

“That’s the best game I’ve had for Cardiff City,” Joel began. “The most enjoyable, and it’ll be one I remember for a long time. I’ve been here a while now around the first team; I’ve been waiting to beat Swansea, and this is the first time I’ve done it. The feeling is just indescribable.”

While the goals will take the headlines, the defence certainly played their part in the win and clean sheet.

“When you score, you have to be even more switched on. We reminded the midfielders and strikers to make sure that we’re solid, and luckily it was comfortable in the end. Robbo gets that second goal early after the first one, and then the third one goes in, and you can start to enjoy it and relax a little bit.”

The Bluebirds came out victorious thanks to a brace from Callum Robinson and a brilliant header from Dimitrios Goutas.

Joel continued: “We said before the game, we wanted to do it for Riz [Omer Riza] today. He’s had a tough few days with the news that he’s had. All the boys and staff have been there for him, sending him messages, popping into his office every morning making sure he’s ok, and you can see from the performance of everyone today that it meant a lot.”

Bagan ended by praising the fans for the noise they created, with a brilliant atmosphere at Cardiff City Stadium.

“The fans were great from the first minute,” Joel concluded. “It’s the best I’ve seen them since I’ve been here. It was so loud from minute one, and even when it was 0-0, just hearing them made it so much easier.”
