City Women secured all three points in the South Wales Derby as they beat Swansea City 1-0.
A second half goal, courtesy of Lily Billingham, guided City to derby victory and increase the gap at the top of the table.
The visitors had the first major chance of the game, but the shot was fired over the crossbar. City almost took the lead when Fiona Barry’s cross drifted towards goal, but narrowly missed the target. Molly Kehoe had a chance to break the deadlock, as she was played in on goal but her shot from close-range sailed just over the bar.
The Bluebirds continued to apply pressure to the Swansea defence, with Megan Bowen striking a shot towards goal from a crossed-in free kick, but the visitors' goalkeeper managed to keep it out. Late on in the first half, the visitors had a chance from a free kick on the edge of the box, but they couldn’t find the target.
City took the lead early in the second half, as Lisa Owen played through Billingham who kept her composure and dispatched it into the back of the net. The visitors looked for a way back into the game, but a superb save from Ceryn Chamberlain denied the visitors.
The Bluebirds' defence stayed compact to secure all three points and extend their advantage at the top of the table.
