City Women fell to a 3-1 defeat away to Briton Ferry Llansawel on Sunday afternoon.
A Ffion Price goal had cancelled out an earlier opener from Maia Owen, however a double from Lucy Powell gave the hosts all three points.
The game’s first effort came within the first 10 minutes as Price’s corner was played in towards Megan Bowen, which fell behind her which was hooked over her head and over the bar. Ferry took the lead shortly after, despite a huge block on the line from Bowen and a follow up save from Ceryn Chamberlain, Owen tapped home from close-range.
The Bluebirds came agonisingly close to a leveller, as Price delivered another corner, finding the head of the leaping Shannon Evans, which crashed off the bar and cleared away. However, on the stroke of half time, Price sent the ball deep into the area which went over all the heads in the box, including the goalkeeper and into the back of the net to enter half time all square.
The home side retook the lead when Laura May Walkley played the ball into Powell at the back post to slot into the net. Chamberlain was on hand just minutes later with a smart save to keep the scores as they were, however, Powell added her second on the 75 minute mark to extend their lead. Next up for the Bluebirds is a trip to The New Saints on January 5th, with a kick-off of 5.10pm.

REACTION | DAVE CARROLL
“I thought Briton Ferry had a good game plan and it worked well all credit to them. We knew before the game that it was going to be difficult task playing at away there due to their home form and the atmosphere that they bring there. I thought we created good chances throughout the game, but we were unable to capitalise on them.
"But we have to focus on the next game against The New Saints, we will regroup and go again this week in training, and we look forward to playing them on Sunday.”
