ADRAN PREMIER | SEASON SO FAR
The Bluebirds head into this Sunday’s fixture on the back of two wins to begin Phase Two.
City claimed a 3-0 win over Aberystwyth Town at Cardiff International Sports Campus, prior to defeating Wrexham 6-1 at The Rock last week.
All three of Iain Darbyshire’s attackers got on the scoresheet, with a hat-trick for Eliza Collie, a brace for Rhianne Oakley and a goal for Molly Kehoe.
Due to Swansea City Women’s postponement against Aberystwyth Town, City are now eight points clear at the top of the table, having played one game greater than the Swans, who are in second.
Sunday’s opponents secured their place in the top four on the final day of Phase One, recording a dramatic 3-3 draw against The New Saints.
The Seasiders currently sit on 17 points, 12 behind Wrexham in third place, but the Black and Greens have a game in-hand over the Red Dragons.
PRE-MATCH NOTES | IAIN DARBYSHIRE
Head coach Darbyshire shared his thoughts ahead of this Sunday's fixture.
"Morale is really high at the moment. We've been working towards the performance that we had against Wrexham over the past few weeks. We had a feeling before the game that we were going to put in a big performance and the girls were fantastic.
"It's been a great start to Phase Two. We knew we were going to have to be consistent after we were put under a little bit of pressure with our defeat to Swansea. The girls have responded really well since then. As a squad, when we're pushed, we get better and better. We're happy with where we are, but there's still work to do.
"We're good away from home. Last time we played in Aberystwyth, it was a difficult environment, but we enjoyed that. Our players are not only good footballers, but they're more than capable in the physical side of the game as well. We love that about this team."
CITY FLASHBACK | THREE FOR FFI
The Bluebirds clashed with the Seasiders in the Adran Trophy Semi-Final earlier this season.
City claimed a brilliant 4-0 win, with a fine hat-trick for wing-back Ffion Price.
After centre-back Megan Bowen had opened the scoring for the Bluebirds, Ffion added a second goal with a brilliant first-time strike.
The second half saw the defender add a further two goals to her tally, both coming in the form of fine long-range strikes.
February’s win saw City book a place in the Adran Trophy Final, where we will take on Swansea City.
