Academy | Young Bluebirds called up for Victory Shield campaign
Cardiff City youth players Ollie Reynolds and T-Jay Parfitt join Wales' Victory Shield campaign, which is being hosted by Wales later this month.
The Victory Shield is an annual tournament which the under-16 teams of Wales, Scotland, Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland all compete for. The tournament, which Wales have won three times, will span from the 6th of November through until the 11th.
In terms of Cardiff City's representation in the upcoming tournament, Ollie Reynolds and T-Jay Parfitt, who are part of the Club's Academy, will be playing for Wales.
Ollie Reynolds joined the Academy as an under-9 and plays as a central defender, with experience in the international setup for the last six months, enjoying positive experiences with camps in Poland and France.
T-Jay Parfitt joined the Academy as an under-11 and also plays as a central defender, and will no doubt be looking forward to representing his country in an exciting and competitive setting.
Head of Academy Coaching and Wales under-17 coach Dane Facey reflected on the importance of having our young Academy players being involved in the Welsh set-up, with the upcoming competition being a good opportunity to impress on home soil.
“It is a tremendous honour for any young player to gain international experience for their country and we are really proud of both Ollie and T-Jay for their selection," Dane began. "The Victory Shield is a prestigious event, that is a highlight for many young professionals in the game.
"Cardiff City Academy has a rich heritage of young players playing in the Victory Shield, including Wales captain Aaron Ramsey and recent Academy graduate Cian Ashford. Good luck to Ollie, T-Jay and the team.”
