Academy | Become a Bluebirds Host Family

Host Families
Cardiff City Football Club are seeking Host Families to join our Academy Team to accommodate our aspiring young football players in their careers, and to be a key part of the team behind the team.

We have a fantastic group of host families who we are looking to grow. These host families not only supply a place to stay, food to eat and washing etc. but also openly welcome the boys into their families, caring for them looking after their emotional needs.  During their host family stays the boys develop not only social skills but also encouraging independence and the learning life skills away from football to those at the very start of their journey into hopeful professional football careers.

We are looking for families to provide a safe, caring and healthy environment for our players to flourish and feel secure in a ‘home away from home’, for them to live and study in, around their training schedule. We are committed to providing support to our young players in welcoming environments and are looking for residents who are able to invest their time and support on either short (trialist) or long term (scholar) opportunities available.

Each of our players ideally requires a separate room but suitable shared rooms may be considered, a daily nutritionally balanced evening meal, occasional lunches, access to laundry facilities and wireless internet. Ideally, we would require host families who can accommodate a minimum of two players at a time. Previous experience of hosting a young person (not necessarily football related) is preferred.

Cardiff City Football Club operates a “Safer Recruitment Policy” and as a result, successful applicants will be subject to a series of robust safeguarding processes including the requirement to have an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

We are seeking host families in the following postcode areas – CF14, CF23, and CF3 within a close proximity to a train station / public transport. Households based near to a train station but from different postcode areas would also be considered.

We require hosting to commence as soon as possible after the safer recruitment processes are complete.

Successful applicants will receive a competitive renumeration package for providing this service.

If you think you are the kind of family who can work with us to play a key role in the development of our young players, then we would like to hear from you.

To arrange an informal discussion about being a host family to start the application process and rates of remuneration, please contact the Player Care Manager Sarah Nightingale via email - sarah.nightingale@cardiffcityfc.co.uk - or Tel – 07872147436.
