Following a narrow 1-0 defeat against league leaders Ipswich Town at Cardiff City Stadium, ever-present defender Ciaron Brown shared his thoughts.
“I thought it was a harsh result,” began Ciaron following the final whistle. “In the first half we were very effective with moving the ball. We got some great opportunities and we dominated for the majority of game, in my opinion.
“In the first 15-20 minutes of the second half we took control of the match. We moved at our own pace and got some half decent opportunities. They [Ipswich Town] came back into the game as it approached the latter stages. It was a bit of luck from them to get their goal but that’s what happens in football. We’ve just got to move on now and focus on our next game.
“Despite the result, it’s always great occasion to play at Cardiff City Stadium. It’s great to be playing where the First Team play. It’s nice to have a taste of what it’s like to play in this environment. Obviously it’s not the same crowd or atmosphere but it’s still a great experience for us players.”
Five current U18 players were included in the team to face the Tractor Boys. This included Keenan Patten, Joel Bagan, Sion Spence, Sam Bowen and Daniel Griffiths. The central defender discussed how impressed he was with their display.
“I thought it was great to have some U18 players involved. They performed superbly and didn’t look like they hadn’t played an U23 game before. They were quite comfortable and did really well in the game.
“All of those players involved were a good asset to the team so hopefully we can see them included more as the season progresses.”
