Cardiff City’s U12 side qualified for the finals of the Premier League Futsal competition after an impressive all-round display on Sunday, 20th January 2019.
The young Bluebirds finished top of the standings with 18 points in Birmingham after going the entire day undefeated; winning all six games.
Cardiff City were in a group alongside the likes of Manchester City, Everton and Norwich City. Against these strong opponents, the promising youngsters tallied a +11 goal difference overall.
Assistant Head of Youth Development (U12-U16) Tom Hutton spoke on the day of qualification, saying: “I think today’s performance has further strengthened our belief that our players can compete with some of the best academies in the country. Futsal is a highly technical and tactical game with there being many different formats the Premier League games programme has to offer.
"This achievement also follows more good work by this group of players, after their victory in the U12 Christmas Truce Cup in Belgium last month.”
Following the qualification success, our U12 side will now participate in the national finals on the weekend of 23-24 February 2019 at the same venue.
Well done to all our young Bluebirds involved!
