Mendez-Laing: “It feels surreal!”

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing addressed the assembled press and media at Cardiff City Stadium - after Cardiff City secured promotion to the Premier League.

“It’s unbelievable - a once in a lifetime opportunity,” began Nathaniel. “The players, gaffer and coaching staff have all pulled together and did excellent.

“It feels surreal! I’m glad that all my family and friends were here to see it - and that all the fans are happy. We’ve just got to take it in.

“I can’t say I expected this. Our aim was to get to the playoffs and we bettered that.

“I don’t think anyone thought we’d be in this position but we’ve all worked hard and come together. These things can happen.”

Nathaniel concluded by revealing where promotion to the Barclays Premier League ranked in his career achievements. 

“This is one of the highlights. It betters anything that’s happened in my career. I was at Rochdale last season and I'm buzzing that they stayed up yesterday - Joe Thompson scored the goal.”
