Grujić: I came to City to achieve something
Bluebirds midfielder Marko Grujić spoke to the press & media at the Vale Resort on Friday morning.
Grujić has been an instant hit since signing on loan from Liverpool during the January transfer window, scoring his first goal in the 2-1 win over Barnsley earlier in the month and appearing for the tenth time in a City shirt in Tuesday’s 3-1 victory at Brentford.
And ahead of Sunday’s televised trip to Derby County, the 21-year-old Grujić said: “We have a tough opponent in front of us and we know Derby are a big team with a big reputation.
“But we don’t care who our opponents are, we just need to keep winning.
“It would be perfect if we could go in to this international break with another three points.”
The Serbian-international could feature in the World Cup this summer, but as he went on to say, his performances in the blue of Cardiff could certainly help determine whether he makes the flight to Russia.
Marko continued: “It was a factor [coming to Cardiff to earn his international place], but it wasn’t the main one. As a young player, you don’t improve if you don’t play games regularly.
“The main reason I came here was to achieve [something big] and that’s getting promotion to the Premier League.
“The World Cup is one of the biggest events for all players, of course; it’ll be tough to get into the [Serbia] squad but I hope so.”
