Cardiff City drew 1-1 with Torquay United at Plainmoor in the Bluebirds' final senior game of the tour to Devon & Cornwall.
Speaking to Cardiff City TV following the full-time whistle, Neil Warnock explained how the entertaining pre-season contest benefited his troops.
“We’ve worked the boys ever so hard this week and it’s all been about minutes on the board," said Neil.
“I was pleased with that, but obviously a bit disappointed that we didn’t score more and conceded a sloppy goal.
“It was ideal preparation though, they were a tough side and the pitch was very good too.”
Summer signings Josh Murphy and Bobby Reid were two of a number of attacking players to impress in the first half. The Gaffer went on to explain just how pleased he is to have them at his disposal for this City side.
“They’re very positive players,” he said. “They want things to happen when they’ve got the ball, and they’ll bring excitement.
“They can play together and I’m looking forward to all of the permutations that I’ve got.”
Neil finished by reflecting on the week in Devon & Cornwall as a whole, describing it as ideal preparation for the 2018/19 season.
“It’s been a really good week - on and off the pitch,” he added. “It’s been exactly what we were looking for when we planned it.
“We got those minutes in and we’ve come away without any injuries, so it’s been a perfect week really.”
