Warnock: A great reward for the Club

Neil Warnock beamed at the prospect of a fourth round clash with Manchester City following Tuesday night’s win at Mansfield – but focussed first on the immediate challenge his Bluebirds side face on the weekend.

Goals from Junior Hoilett (2), Anthony Pilkington and Bruno Ecuele Manga saw City cement the plum Emirates FA Cup tie on the night, but a trip to Hillsborough on Saturday is the next test.

“It’s a great draw for us,” said the Gaffer after the defeat of Mansfield.

“But let’s concentrate on the biggest game of the season before that - Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday!”

More than 500 Bluebirds travelled to the home of the Stags for the midweek Cup clash, and the Manager praised them for their unwavering loyalty to the squad.

He said: “Credit to those who came up here tonight; it was so cold out there and I’m delighted for them.

“They’re [Manchester City] probably the best side in the world at the moment if we’re being honest. It’s nice for the fans and the Club to get this reward and I’m pleased for Vincent too as he’ll be delighted.

"Man City will have to be up for it, won't they? We will have a great crowd - I would be disappointed if it wasn't a full house.

“It’ll be a great occasion at a packed Cardiff City Stadium - and you’ve got to beat these sort of teams [like Manchester City] if you want to win the Cup!”
