Match Preview | Cardiff City FC Women vs. Exeter City Ladies FC

Women

Cardiff City FC Women will host Exeter City Ladies as they look to continue their season preparations on Sunday, 5th August 2018.

This match will be another tough meeting for our Women’s side at Cardiff International Sports Stadium. Entry for this match is also free of charge for all supporters.

“We’re looking forward to Sunday’s game,” Cardiff City FC Women’s manager Joel Hutton began. “It’s another different test to what we’ve seen so far. It’s a team that we played last pre-season.

“The main thing is about being ready for the new season to start and how we prepare for that. If we picked up on a mistake that we may have made last weekend, against Wolves, and put it right for our season opener then that’s our aim.

“Exeter are going to be a good test for the girls. They’ve had a mixed bag of results in pre-season so far so I think it’s going to be an interesting game."

Joel went on to discuss his squad, adding: “I might add one more player but we’ll wait and see about what happens with that one. However we’re happy with the squad we have. There is competition for places which is something we didn’t have last season. This year we’ll have at least two players for each position. It’s good that we can now constantly keep the girls on their toes.

“It’ll be good for me to have some selection headaches ahead of matches. So that shows that we’re ready for the new season.”

Long-time serving midfielder, Kanisha-Mae Underdown also expressed her excitement ahead of the new season and Sunday’s afternoon encounter.

“The girls and I are looking forward to Sunday’s game. It’s going to be a big test and we’ve had quite a few of them in pre-season so far. It’s been a lot of hard-work but we’ve tried new teams out and it should be a good challenge.

“We can’t wait for the season to start too and we have high hopes for the campaign. Everyone’s coming together and that’s good for the squad. There is a very good team spirit and we feel more than prepared for the upcoming season.”
