Cardiff City achieves EFL Family Excellence Gold Award
We are delighted to confirm that Cardiff City has been included in the EFL's list of Family Excellence ’Gold Award’ winners for the 2017/18 season.
Created in 2007, the Award recognises the outstanding experience provided by clubs for young fans and families as well as their efforts to enhance the matchday experience.
Over the past decade, Cardiff City has secured the Family Excellence award in every year they have been eligible to receive it - an achievement shared by just seven other EFL clubs.
A record 56 EFL Clubs have been given the Family Excellence award for 2017/18, with the Bluebirds alongside nine other teams to have been give a Gold Award - which highlights those who offer an exceptional family matchday experience. Watch our most recent #CityAsOne Fan Engagement video on YouTube!
Our Family Excellence report noted: "Over both visits, Cardiff City has, yet again, showed itself to be among the leading clubs at family engagement. Over every touch point there is evidence of a fan or family-focused attitude in both service design and employee attitude. Once again, the ‘in-concourse’ experience stands out, with imaginative use of the space ensuring families arrive early to enjoy an amazing range of activities and to soak it all up. Finally, the engaging culture comes across in the vast majority of interactions with Cardiff City staff and this, more than anything else, shows why they are such an engaging family club."
Speaking about the award, EFL Chief Executive, Shaun Harvey, said: “It is hugely encouraging to see the continuous development and improvement made by EFL Clubs in offering engaging match day experiences for families. For over a decade the EFL’s Family Excellence Scheme has helped to produce positive and impactful change across the leagues, helping to drive a real focus on match day entertainment, facilities and the overall experience on offer for families, and ultimately to assist in growing attendances.
“Its impact continues to be notable with several Clubs gaining strong industry-wide reputations for offering true family value and a consistently high level of service and innovation.
“The EFL will continue to work with Clubs to help drive change and support the continued effort to attract and retain future generations of supporters. Congratulations to the Clubs that have achieved Family Excellence status and to those that have been awarded Gold status in its inaugural year.”
