Hoilett: “It’s a good, collective group and I’m happy to be here”

Junior Hoilett spoke ahead of City’s away trip to Birmingham on Friday evening, with the Bluebirds looking to continue their impressive start to the 2017/18 campaign.

“We’ve been sharp this week in training and I feel good,” Junior began. “We just have to maintain the way we’ve started the season and carry on with the advice that the manager has given us, the system we are playing and remain confident.

“We have to go at teams with the belief we can win every game.

“It’s a good, collective group and I’m happy to be here.”

The Canadian international outlined his admiration for the Gaffer, who has recently marked his one-year anniversary at CCS.

“He’s a manager that gives players the confidence to go and express themselves and play the game.

“He’s a good manager to have onboard to give you confidence not only on the pitch but off it. He’s a great bloke to have around and bring the best out of players.

“You can see how the team has started off this year, everybody is onboard and it’s great to have a manager like that behind you.”

Birmingham City will be looking to bounce back on Friday evening, after suffering a 6-1 defeat to Hull City last time out. The Blues will be under the leadership of Steve Cotterill for the first time.

"I’m sure they’re going to come out all guns blazing," Junior continued. “It’s going to be a tough match. We just have to remain strong and stay compact which is how we’ve been going at teams in the first few games of this season.

“We need to remain solid and silence the crowd early doors, and not give them anything to build on. We just need to stick to the game plan and remain solid as a team.”
