Warnock: "We didn't sit back - we kept pushing forward"
Bluebirds Boss, Neil Warnock, praised his side’s endeavour and work ethic following Tuesday night’s fantastic win at Oakwell.
The 1-0 victory over Barnsley lifted the Bluebirds back into the second automatic promotion spot, following Sheffield United’s defeat at home to Fulham.
And speaking to press and media after the match, the Gaffer cited a professional second half display as key to the three points.
“I didn’t enjoy the first half with the wind behind us, we were almost a bit too comfortable at times,” said Neil.
“But we had some words at half time and I thought we were much better from the kick off in the second half.
“In these conditions, on a blowy Tuesday night in Yorkshire, you have to grind it out – and I told the lads that. They worked really hard and the goal came in the final ten minutes."
The Manager praised goal-scorer Callum Paterson for his eighty-third minute effort, but also two other heroes from the encounter.
“I thought about bringing Callum (Paterson) off about four times but each time I was going to he went on another run and then got his goal,” the Manager continued.
“He’s a tremendous lad to have in the dressing room and I’m really pleased for him. People like Craig Bryson were fantastic too – and I thought Bruno (Ecuele Manga) looked like one of the best in the division at right back! He’s just taken to that role really well.
“I’m delighted tonight. It may not have been our best performance could well be our best win of the season so far in the circumstances. We could have sat back for the point but we kept pushing forward for the three.”
