Fresh from the international break, Callum began by explaining how pleased he was to be called up by Scotland for their friendly against the Netherlands.
“It’s amazing to be back in the thoughts and to be around the boys,” said the full-back. “To be called up again was a great feeling, I was really happy to be there, but I’d have loved to have got on too.”
The 23-year-old also spoke about his return from injury and his relief to be fit and firing for the Bluebirds, after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
“Finally - It’s been a long time, nearly a year now,” continued Callum. “It’s good to have shaken it off, touch wood for the rest of my life. It’s good to be back playing. The first couple of games went really well. Obviously we had a disappointing result against Bristol, but that’s in the past now. We want to kick on and get some more results now.”
Callum revealed that he’s expecting a tricky test against the in-form Brentford this weekend, but thinks the home fans can help to spur the side on at Cardiff City Stadium.
“Every game is a tough game,” he added. “We’ve got to go out with our game plan to hopefully win the game though. We work hard on and off the pitch - the defence has been unbelievable this year with the clean sheets, and Neil has been great in goals as well.
“The atmosphere has been great, and thankfully the fans have accepted me with warmth. I’ve really enjoyed it.”
